How We Added Innovations Throughout the Season.

Innovation is not always one big “aha!” moment. For our team, it was more like a season-long process of asking questions, getting feedback, learning from others, and slowly making our ideas better.

Throughout the season, we kept finding new ways to improve what we already had. Some of these changes were for our robot attachments and add-ons, while others were for our Innovation Project solution. But how did we come up with these improvements, and how did we actually use them? Here’s how.

Coming Up with Improvements

We came up with improvements in a few different ways. One of the easiest and most helpful ways was talking to experts and asking for their advice.

Since this year’s Innovation Project theme was UNEARTHED, we contacted several experts in archaeology. When we met with them, we showed them our project, explained our solution, asked questions, and listened to their feedback.

Whenever they gave us suggestions, we wrote them down so we could come back to them later. This helped us improve our project using real advice instead of just guessing what might work.

Learning from Other Teams

We also learned a lot from other teams at competitions, including qualifiers, regionals, and state. We saw many teams with creative designs, cool ideas, and smart strategies.

When we noticed something interesting, we would sometimes ask them about it. This helped us learn from people who were working on similar challenges.

Seeing other teams’ ideas also made us think more about our own robot and project. It showed us that there is more than one way to solve a problem, and that we could always keep improving.

Turning Ideas into Action

After getting feedback or seeing a new idea, we did not just forget about it. We talked about it as a team and decided which ideas were useful and possible for us to try.

Then we tested them. Sometimes that meant changing an attachment, adding something to the robot, or improving part of our Innovation Project solution. Some ideas worked right away, and some did not. But even when something did not work perfectly, it still helped us figure out what to do next.

What We Learned

By the end of the season, we realized that innovation is not only about inventing something brand new. It is also about improving your ideas little by little.

Every expert meeting, competition, and team discussion helped us make our robot, project, and teamwork stronger. 😀
