In our team, we regularly meet once a week for about 2 hours, but I bet you guys do not know what we actually do during that time. Today, I am going to break down what we do in our class and how we work together as a team.
The very first thing we do when we walk into class is randomly assign different roles for the day. This helps everyone get a chance to try new jobs and learn different skills. After that, we discuss the homework we completed during the previous week, and everyone gives a small presentation to share their ideas and progress with the team.
Next, we practice our innovation project and revise our lines for presentations. We work together to make sure everyone understands their part and feels confident speaking in front of others. We also help each other improve by giving feedback and encouraging one another.
After this, we are usually around the one-hour mark, so we take a quick snack break. It gives us time to relax, talk, and recharge before continuing our work.
After the delicious snacks, we split up into two teams of three. One team works on the red home area while the other team works on the blue home area. During this time, we focus on improving our robot runs and making them more efficient. We test different strategies, fix mistakes, and practice until the end of class.
Even though robotics can sometimes be challenging, we always make sure everyone feels included and important. We listen to each other’s ideas, help teammates when they are struggling, and celebrate our successes together. By working as one team, we become better builders, coders, presenters, and friends.
At the end of every meeting, we leave knowing that we learned something new and got one step closer to reaching our goals. That is what makes our FLL robotics team special.
